Fayette Area Community Trust accepting grant applications

The Fayette Area Community Trust is currently accepting applications for grants to be awarded at the upcoming meeting of the Fayette Area Community Trust Advisory Board. Any tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization in the Fayette area may apply. And organizations that have received grants in the past are welcome to apply again.

Applications should be completed and returned by May 10, 2021. They may be picked up at Commercial Trust Company in Fayette, which serves as Trustee of the trust. Organizations may also request a grant application by e-mail by contacting Janet Jacobs at janet.jacobs@commercialtrust.com or by calling the bank at (660) 248-2222. 

Since its establishment in 1991 by Dr. Robert and Mrs. Bertha Mae Barker, The Fayette Area Community Trust has grown to over $1.7 million dollars, and since that time has awarded over $1.6 million in grants to organizations in the Fayette community and Central Methodist University.

The trust awarded $78,933.40 in grants last year. Recipients included Central Methodist University: Barker-Oakes Chair in Sociology ($50,000), First Christian Church Christmas Holiday House ($1,000), Fayette Ministerial Alliance Benevolence Fund ($5,000) Fayette Police Department ($1,351.54), Howard County Heath & Wellness Council/Splash Park ($5,040), Howard County Fire Protection District ($5,004), Fayette Senior Center ($5,000), Howard County Sheriff Department ($2,169.86), Fayette Fire Department ($2,000), Fayette Cub Scout Pack 62 ($468), City of Fayette July 4 Celebration ($400.00), and the Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri ($1,500).
