It’s National FFA Week, and Fayette High School is celebrating with dress-up days, an auction and other events.
FFA members are also creating fun for Daly Elementary students by reading ag books to them and hosting a coloring contest.
Yesterday, all FHS students were invited to dress up for Boots, Shorts and Hat Day. It was also Muddy Truck Day. Today is flannel or “Lumberjack Day.” FFA officers are speaking at the Rotary Club meeting, and are attending Governor Parson’s FFA Day at the Capitol. The Governor is expected to drive a John Deere tractor to the Capitol in honor of the tradition.
Tomorrow is Hunting Season Day at FHS and students are invited to wear their camouflage and hunter orange attire in honor of Will Beaman, a high school senior currently battling leukemia.
Friday is Drive Your Tractor to School Day and the dress-up theme is FFA Jacket Day. Non FFA members can show their support by wearing blue and gold.
Also on Friday, there will be donuts for FFA members and teachers in the agriculture building at 7:30 a.m.
The annual FFA auction will take place at the ag building at the high school on Saturday. The event will kick off with a free-will donation lunch at 11 a.m., with proceeds to benefit the Beaman family. The auction begins at 12:30 p.m. following the lunch.
The proceeds from the auction go toward FFA student trips, conferences, and other activities.
