Fayette coffee shop expanding to Glasgow

Fireside Bakes and Brews hopes to open in July on 2nd Street

Fayette’s beloved coffee shop, Fireside Bakes and Brews, plans to open a second location this summer in downtown Glasgow. The new site will be on 2nd Street next to the Glasgow Senior Center.

Owners Nichole and Ryan Atkins hope to open in mid-July.

“The opportunity presented itself, and it’s a stepping stone in my larger plans,” Nichole said. “It was the right time and the right city.”

Fireside’s Glasgow location will offer the same coffee, tea, and Lotus energy drinks but will forgo the “bakes” side of the business to not compete with a nearby bakery.

“I cannot compete with the Rolling Pin,” Nichole said. “They have such great stuff.”

The new location will be in a smaller building, about half the size of the one in Fayette, with a couple of small tables. Because of that, Nicole said the shop will be more of a grab-and-go style.

Fireside already has a base of customers who make the roughly 15-minute drive to Fayette for the coffee. “We have quite a few teachers who come over here to get coffee. Now we will be closer to them,” Nichole said.

She hopes to open the Glasgow expansion in mid-July to be fully functional before the fall. But that depends on securing equipment and training her staff of three, who have all been hired. Additionally, the building still needs flooring and siding before the shop can open.

The new location’s hours will likely sync with many other downtown Glasgow businesses: open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Like the Fayette store, it will be closed on Sundays. However, the hours of operation are not set in stone, and Nichole asks her customers to keep an eye on Fireside’s social media pages for updates.

Nichole said none of this would be possible without the support of her customers. “Fireside is all about creating an excuse to get together. To bring people together in the communities.

“I’m very excited to be a part of their business community. I really love small communities. There’s really nothing like them.”

Fireside began serving coffee from a small trailer and made the jump to its first brick-and-mortar location a half block off the downtown Fayette square in Autumn 2021.
