The Fayette Falcons came back from an early three-run hole with seven straight runs to defeat South Callaway 7-5 on Monday night.

The Falcons were still hitless entering the bottom of the third inning on Monday, and drew three walks to load the bases with two outs for Breanna Estes.

The first hit of the game was a bases-clearing double that tied the score at 3-3. Estes doubled again to lead off the fifth inning, and scored the go-ahead run on an infield single from Hannah Quint.

Abby Nation came through with two outs in the fifth, driving in two runs with a double to increase the lead to four runs.

The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs and brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning, but Jordyn Ball got a strikeout to end the game.

The Falcons had just five hits, but took advantage of 11 walks to win the critical game against South Callway (2-11), who is also in Class 2’s District 3 with Fayette (13-2).

Madi Lawson walked three times and scored a run in the win. Megan Lewis walked twice and scored once. Addison Newell also drew two walks.

Ball allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks. She struck out nine.

The Falcons will travel to Paris on Tuesday and host undefeated Marceline on Thursday.
