On Friday evening, four teams, the Fayette Falcons, Harrisburg Bulldogs, Slater Wildcats, and the North Callaway Eagles, met at Davis Field on the campus of Central Methodist University in Fayette to see how weeks of practice have prepared the teams for the season.
Looking forward to the week-seven matchup on October 8 between Harrisburg and Fayette, neither Falcons head coach Mike Thompson, nor Bulldogs coach Steve Hopkins were eager to give anything away as the two teams battled.
Neither team plays North Callaway during the regular season, but Fayette travels to Slater for week three action on September 10.
Following a 6-5 record in 2020, Fayette returns 11 lettermen for the 2021 season. Harrisburg returns18 lettermen from their 8-5 season of a year ago.
“I felt like we accomplished what we were hoping to and evaluated players at a few positions,” coach Thompson said. “We had no injuries and that is always a positive coming out of the jamboree. We see now where we need to improve and can formulate that into the best path to success.”
