On August 29, eighteen members of the Fayette Golf club competed for the club championship.
Matt Vandehlicht joined such club notable as Mitch Cochran and Jim Clatworthy in becoming a multiple tourney champion by winning his second consecutive scratch championship.
Vandelicht posted a 3-under par 69 for the win.
Eighteen year old Olivia Gebhardt, a Fayette High school graduate now attending UMKC, won the handicap portion of the tourney. Playing in her first championship, Gebhardt posted a 62 (with handicap) for the win making her the first female golfer to win the tournament.
“It was good day. I was able to just relax,” said Gebhardt. “Everything was working really well, and I was surrounded by people that I really enjoy playing golf with.”
