A recent Fayette High School graduate has earned a scholarship from Howard Electric, to help pay for training to become a lineman. Cody Hilgedick was awarded the $1,000 Howard Electric Lineman Scholarship this year. He is the son of Shane and Charice Hilgedick of Fayette.
Cody will attend Ozark Technical College in Lebanon, Missouri, starting this fall in the Electrical Distribution System program. He will work toward an Associate of Applied Science degree. Cody hopes to become a lineman after he graduates from OTC.
This is the third year Howard Electric has offered the $1,000 lineman scholarship. Kaden Hoover was the 2019 recipient. No applications were submitted in 2020.
The Howard Electric lineman scholarship opportunity can be awarded to any current year high school senior that completes the application and meets the following criteria: Enrolled as a first-year full-time student (12 hours minimum per semester) to pursue an Associates of Applied Science degree in Electrical Distribution Systems at either State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, Missouri, or Ozarks Technical Community College in Lebanon; must have a home mailing address within the Howard Electric service area, which includes Howard County, or Randolph County south of Moberly. The applicant does not have to be on Howard Electric’s lines.
