Fayette High School will celebrate its annual Homecoming this week, culminating with the crowning of a new Queen and King at halftime of the football game Friday night. This year’s theme is “The Ultimate Smackdown.”

Queen contestants are Megan Lewis, Madi Lawson, and Preslee Sunderland. King candidates are Haden Kelly, Chase Allen-Jackman, and Ben Wells. The returning King and Queen are Tyler Bartholomew and Bella Asbury. Ringbearers for Friday night’s halftime coronation are Jax Sunderland and Kinlee Hustedde.

Junior class attendants are Kristian Pulliam and Jenny Kunze, sophomore attendants are Camden Kindle and Cayle John, and freshman attendants are Carter Vroman and Mariah Felten.

Homecoming week is full of activities, class contests, and dress-up days. Tuesday is Night In vs Night Out Day (Fancy and Casual Dress); Wednesday is Hunters vs Athletes Day (Camo & Sports Gear); Thursday is BBQ Dads vs Soccer Moms Day (BBQ Outfit & Soccer Mom Outfit); and Friday is Hometown Throwdown/Smackdown Day (Black & Gold).

Starting at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday and lasting through Friday morning, high school students will compete in class competitions.

A tailgate will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday for high school students, staff, and faculty. That afternoon a homecoming assembly will take place for all students in the district at 1:30 p.m.

The annual Homecoming parade will kick off at 2:30 p.m. from the school campus before winding its way downtown. This year’s parade Grand Marshalls will be district superintendent Brent Doolin and high school principal Ross Dobson.

The parade route will be altered this year due to a bridge closure on Spring Street by the high school softball field. The parade will begin behind the high school, turning left onto Lucky Street. It will then turn south onto Highway 5, before traveling east on Spring Street. From there the parade will make its way downtown and around the courthouse square.

Any groups or organizations interested in being a part of the parade should contact Billie Williams at bwilliams@fayetteschool.org no later than noon on Thursday, September 29. All parade entries should meet behind the high school no later than 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

The football game will kick off from Thomas S. Davis Memorial Field at 7 p.m. Fayette will host Paris for the game. The King and Queen will be crowned at halftime.
