Fayette High School celebrates Homecoming

Posted

Fayette High School will celebrate its annual Homecoming this week, culminating with the crowning of a new Queen and King at halftime of the football game Friday night. This year’s theme is “Hometown Throwdown.”

Queen contestants are Chloe Huster, Bella Asbury, and Jordyn Ball. King candidates are Chris Brown, Tyler Bartholomew, and Garren Vroman. The returning royalty are Queen Breanna Estes and King Josh Henderson.

Junior class attendants are Madi Lawson and Chase Allen-Jackman, sophomore attendants are Addie Huster and Bryce Callahan, and freshman attendants are Whitley Sunderland and Micah Estes.

Homecoming week is full of activities, class contests, and dress-up days. Tuesday is Busted or Tired Day (pajama day), Wednesday is Zig-Zag Day (mismatched clothes day), Thursday is 5 or 82 Day (dress young or old), and Friday is Hometown Throwdown Day. Usually on Friday students are encouraged to dress in black and gold, the school colors. This year, however, they are asked to wear orange in honor of Fayette’s Hometown Hero, Will Beaman. The high school senior is currently battling leukemia.

A pep rally will be held at 10 a.m. Friday and will include class competitions. A tailgate will be held at 11 a.m. for high school students, staff, and faculty. That afternoon a homecoming assembly will take place at 1:30 p.m.

The annual Homecoming parade will kick off at 2:30 p.m. from the school campus before winding its way downtown. This year’s parade Grand Marshall will be high school principal Patrick Tray.

The parade route will be altered this year due to ongoing construction around the school and throughout town. The parade is expected to travel down Herndon Street to West Davis Street and on toward the downtown Fayette square.

Any groups or organizations interested in being a part of the parade should contact Billie Williams at bwilliams@fayetteschool.org, or Amy Uthlaut at authlaut@fayetteschool.org.
