Fayette High School gave a final farewell to the Class of 2020 following a senior year that could be called nothing, if not unconventional. The ceremony, originally scheduled for May 15, was postponed until Sunday, June 28, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, graduation was held at Puckett Field House on the campus of Central Methodist University, rather than the high school gym, in order to allow social distancing. Seniors were allowed just 10 tickets for family members to attend.

One Fayette senior earned the prestigious distinction of graduating Summa Cum Laude. Grant Randolph Himmelmann finished his high school career with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Other requirements include a minimum ACT score of 26, the completion of eight semesters of high school, and an attendance rate of 95 percent.

Seven seniors earned graduated Magna Cum Laude, which requires a minimum GPA of 3.85, and a minimum ACT score of 22. Those students were Cameron Genell Bias, James Austin Chad Kindle, Emma Celeste Miner, Kaylee Dawn Mullins, Carly Jean Stark, Meredith Rae Love Stumbaugh, and Logan Kathleen Marie Thies.
