Fayette Main Street to host workshop on Feb. 13

Fayette Main Street is hosting a quarterly statewide workshop for Missouri Main Street on Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Commercial Trust Community Room.

Topics will focus on board and committee chair development and recruiting and energizing volunteers. The speaker will be Carol Weisman who specializes in volunteerism, fundraising and governance. The cost is $100 per person for MMSC members. FMS will cover the fee for any board or committee members who wish to attend. Interested people need to pre-register with Pam Huttsell, FMS president, by Monday, Feb. 3. Call 660-248-3346 or email huttsell@sbcglobal.net.

Bob Wiegers will lead a one hour tour of our Main Street District which will include stops at The Brockman Poultry House (Rosewood Antiques), the old Howard County Jail, and the Uriel Wright Building.

Huttsell asks citizens to make every effort to attend. This is one advantage of receiving the Affiliate Grant — the training comes to Fayette rather than Fayette citizens having to travel to another location somewhere in the state. It also means visitors will come to Fayette and spend their money in downtown restaurants and local bed and breakfasts.

Another date to keep open: Wednesday, Feb. 12. Time will be announced later. All Main Street local managers will sit down with board and committee members to work on a project. More information concerning the project will be provided at a later date.
