Fayette PD donates pork steak fundraiser to Christmas Holiday House

Posted

The Fayette Police Department donated the proceeds of its most recent annual fundraiser to the Christmas Holiday House. City Marshal David Ford and Captain Greg Lanham presented a check in the amount of $1,734 to Holiday House representative Pat Hilgedick on Wednesday, November 27.

The department has held pork steak dinners for the past three years to raise funds for the program. This year’s fundraiser took place on November 17. Officers also donate their time during the yearly distribution.

“Although this event is sponsored by the Fayette Police Department, we couldn’t have done it without a lot of wonderful people giving up their time to help us,” said Police Chief David Ford. “I would like to recognize all the wonderful ladies who donated their time and effort making all the cookies, and the Howard County Prosecutor and other volunteers who helped serve the wonderful people of Fayette and Howard County. Finally, I would like to thank Exchange Bank and the Braun Home for their donations to this event.”

The Christmas Holiday House is presented annually under the auspices of the First Christian Church in Fayette. This will be the 23rd season. Each year, the project distributes toys, games, art supplies, books, hats, and gloves to provide happy holiday celebrations for registered families all over Howard County. Last year, the Christmas Holiday House served 280 children in Howard County, ages newborn to 12 years.

“We appreciate the policemen and all the effort they put into earning money for the Christmas Holiday House, which will help lots of children in our county,” Mrs. Hilgedick said.

This year’s distribution will be held on Saturday, December 14, at the First Baptist Church Education Building in Fayette. So far, more than 200 children from more than 100 families have registered with the Holiday House.

Those families who still wish to register for the distribution may contact Mrs. Hilgedick at (660) 888-9932.
