Fayette PD welcomes new officer

The Fayette Police Department swore in a new officer on Monday. Sergeant Daquan Boyce officially begins duty today.

Sgt. Boyce joins the department here after serving as an officer for seven years in North Carolina.

Fayette City Marshal David Ford said Boyce and his family decided to relocate to Missouri near his wife’s family, and found Fayette’s job listing. He passed the Police Officer Standard and Training test for Missouri and was hired on as a Sergeant.

Boyce will train for a few weeks with longtime Fayette police officer Bo Wells before beginning afternoon and evening shifts, Chief Ford said.

The Fayette department is still one officer short, and has another officer on medical leave. At capacity, the department staffs seven officers in addition to the City Marshal, which is an elected position.
