Fayette track shows strength in Macon Open

In the first meet of the season, the Fayette boys and girls gave a strong showing, especially in the boys' 100-meter dash at which the Falcons scored three of the top four finishers. Sophomores Chase Allen won the race with a time of 11.68, followed by senior Zach Henderson with a time of 11.81 for third. Junior Garren Vroman took fourth with a time of 11.90.

On the girls’ side, senior Breanna Estes finished second in the shot put with a throw of 10.59 meters. Stephanie Nelson placed third in the discus throw with a score of 25.68 meters.

In the 4x100-meter relay, the Fayette boys placed first with a time of 45.47. That team is made up of seniors Kaden Polson, Dillon Lembke, junior Garren Vroman, and Allen.

The 4x200-meter relay team consisting of Polson, sophomore Ben Wells, junior Avery Powell, and Henderson finished second with a time of 1:39.43.

The 4x400 team with Henderson,  Powell, Wells, and Polson finished third with a time of 3:59.00.

In the boys' field events, the Henderson twins, Zach and Josh, dominated. Josh finished first in the shot put with a toss of 12.56 meters followed by Wesley Miner who threw 10.27 meters. Josh also tossed the discus 46.78 in the final but qualified with a throw of 48.33.

The Javelin throw was a Fayette stronghold as four Falcons finished in the top eight. Zach Henderson won the event with a throw of 46.95 meters in the final but qualified with a throw of 48.79. Lembke finished third with a throw of 37.97 while senior Kyle Schleeter finished seventh by tossing 33.12 followed by Logan Wiswall in eighth place with a 33.00-meter throw.

In the long jump, sophomore Chase Allen placed third with a jump of 5.81 meters. Powell finished ninth followed by Garren Vroman.

The girls 4x100-meter relay team finished fifth with Preslee Sunderland, Madison Race, Leah Lembke, and Shay’Aira Lee-McQuitty running a pace of 1:01.4.

In the girls' pole vault event, Leah Lempke broke two meters to finish fifth.
