FHS graduation moves to CMU’s Puckett Field House

Posted

The Fayette High School graduation ceremony will be held at Puckett Field House on the campus of Central Methodist University. The event was originally scheduled for May 15, but was postponed to 2 p.m. On June 28 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Graduation practice is scheduled for 9 a.m. On Friday, June 26.

The keynote speaker will be former Fayette principal Brett Frerking. There will not be a performance from either the band or the choir.

The venue change will allow for social distancing measures. Graduates will be allowed 10 guests.  Each of the 34 groups will be segregated into pods. Most pods will be located in the bleachers as the seniors will be seated on the gym floor in front of the stage.

“Your 10 guests will need to be able to sit together, as there will be assigned group seating,” FHS principal Patrick Tray wrote in a letter to graduating seniors. “Please make me aware if you have a guest who will need handicap accessible seating.”

In addition, the school will live stream the ceremony for those unable to attend. Anyone who is ill with an unexplained fever, cough, or shortness of breath is requested to stay at home and watch the live stream.

Details on the live stream will be forthcoming.

Graduates will pick up their 10 tickets at graduation rehearsal.
