Fire temporarily closes 240 Creations

A small fire has forced the closure of Fayette's 240 Culinary Creations restaurant for most of this week. Owner Sonja Allen reported that sometime between 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, a low-heat fire had burned in the kitchen.

There was no damage reported from the flames. However, smoke damage has forced Allen to close her doors until a smoke restoration crew can complete a thorough cleanup.

Allen said she hopes to reopen next Thursday if not sooner.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Evidence suggests that a small fire smoldered in the grill. But it never got hot enough to kick on the fire suppression system located just above in the hood.

After inspection, the fire suppression system was deemed in good working order.

Allen said when she and her staff arrived Wednesday, they could smell smoke and the entire restaurant and dining room were covered in black soot.

Allen was still able to serve Valentines Day customers in the restaurant's gourmet dining room. However, that kitchen is not equipped to serve the daily lunch crowd.
