Four young women will compete for the title of Miss Howard County Queen, and another five will compete to become Missouri Howard County Teen. The competitions will begin at 7 p.m. on June 23 at the Howard County Fairgrounds.
Winners will be announced in various categories including talent, evening gown, interview, and congeniality.
Winners of the queen and teen contests will preside over various events at the fair which runs June 23-27. The Howard County queen will move on to compete at the Queen of Fairs Pageant during the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia in August.
Queen Contestants
Keyanna Colvin
Keyanna is the 17-year-old daughter of Richard and Georgia Colvin of Glasgow, where she will be a senior this fall at Glasgow High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the A-plus program. Keyanna is president of Steinmetz 4-H club and has also served as secretary, second vice president, and will be the 2021-22 Glasgow FFA president. She has received FFA Chapter Star Greenhand, Star Farmer, and Star Agribusiness along with her State FFA degree. She was awarded third place for FFA area 4, vegetable production proficiency. Keyanna also plays softball and has received All-Conference honorable mention for two years and All-District second team for two years. Her future plans are to attend college to study Ag technology and information systems.

Starla Marie
Crutchfield
Starla is a 17-year-old senior at Fayette High School. She is the daughter of Travis W. Crutchfield and Esther M. Olk. Starla is an active member of FFA and has been an officer this past year and will be second Vice President in FFA this upcoming year. Starla has been nominated to the National Honor Society and has been on the Honor Roll for the last three years. She says that one of her biggest accomplishments is surviving to adulthood. In her free time, she likes to ride horses, spend time with friends and family and work on her FFA projects. Starla’s future plans are to attend college for Agricultural Education and become an Ag Teacher.
Starla’s sponsor is Johnson Farms of Fayette.
Hailey Sage
Hailey is the daughter of Rick and Aimee Sage of Fayette. Hailey is an upcoming senior at Central Methodist University.
Throughout Haileys time at CMU, she has made the Dean’s List for her academic achievements. She has received many awards and scholarships. Most recently, she received the Nancy Jones GEM award for vocal excellence. She is the president of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Alpha Psi Omega, the national theater organization. She is the vice president of the national women’s singing fraternity Sigma Alpha iota. Hailey is a member of the Central Methodist Choral and Conservatory Singers. She has also been an active participant in the theater and opera at CMU. After earning her undergraduate degree, Hailey plans on continuing her education to receive a Master’s Degree in Vocal Pedagogy, so that she can become a vocal professor.

Haley Isabelle McKenna Washburn
Haley is the 19-year-old daughter of Frank and Melissa Washburn of New Franklin.
She is a 2020 graduate of New Franklin High School. While in high school she was in FFA, played softball, basketball, and cheer, as was a member of FBLA. Haley was a student of Turning Pointe Dance for 13 years doing ballet, tap, and jazz dance. Haley is currently enrolled at State Fair Community College and will be attending their radiology program in the future. Haley received the A-Plus scholarship and is currently on the Dean’s List.
Haley’s sponsor is Exchange Bank of Fayette.
Teen Candidates
Morgan Grace Dix
Morgan is the 15-year-old daughter of Carrie and Derry Wiswall and Joshua Dix. She is a sophomore at Fayette High School, where she is the 2022 Historian for FFA, plays gold, and is on the varsity cheer squad. Morgan was freshman class president and elected to the student council. She also received first place in the design contest for the freshman art class and was awarded the agronomics design and fabrications pin in FFA. In her free time, she stays busy with her own small business where she makes custom epoxy tumblers. Morgan's future plans are to attend college and major in Nursing and become a labor and delivery nurse.

Hayden Elise Sage
Hayden is the 14-year-old daughter of Rick and Aimee Sage of Fayette. She is a freshman at Fayette High School and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and Student Council. She is on the cheerleading team, runs track, plays in the band, and plays softball. Hayden enjoys being in theater, plays, and musicals. In her free time, she stays busy taking lessons for french horn, art, and ice skating or spending time with family at their family’s farm. Her future plans are to attend the University of Missouri and major in journalism and continue with art classes

KatiJo Diame Schaefer
KatiJo is the 15-year-old daughter of Greg and Jessica Schaefer of Glasgow. She is a sophomore at Glasgow High School where she is the FFA Secretary and received the Star Greenhand Degree. She also was a state qualifier for cross country and track. KatiJo completed her freshman year on the honor roll and received a silver rating for her flute solo. Her future plans are to attend college and major in neuropsychology. She hopes to raise a family on her family’s farm.

Leah Brooke Thies
Leah is the 13-year-old daughter of Mike and Paula Thies of Armstrong. She is an eighth-grader at Clark Middle School in Fayette, where she is on the honor roll and has received several academic awards. Leah stays busy playing on three different softball teams and is an active 4-H member and shows cattle at the Howard County fair. Her future plans are to attend the University of Missouri to play softball and study nursing. Leah loves to spend time with family and friends and playing ball.

Kinsley Cadence Washburn
Kinsley is the 14-year-old daughter of Frank and Melissa Washburn of New Franklin. She is currently a sophomore at New Franklin High School where she plays basketball and softball. Kinsley has been a member of Turning Pointe Dance Studio for 11 years and has been an active member of 4-H for seven years. While in 4-H Kinsley has shown many projects including cake decorating, arts and crafts, and livestock. In her free time, she loves spending time with her siblings, family, and friends, swimming, and being outdoors. Kinsley's future is to attend college and major in the medical field.
