Fayette resident, Frank Dougherty, 80, passed away at The Lodge on June 26, 2021.

Marshall Frank Dougherty was born in Fayette, MO on February 14, 1941, a son to the late Ira and Azile (Lewis) Dougherty.  Frank graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1959.  In July of 1966, Frank enlisted with U.S. Army.  He earned the National Defense Medal, along with the Vietnam Campaign and Service Medals.  Frank was honorably discharged in February of 1968.  On November 7, 1968, Frank married Doris (Laborde) Estill at the First Christian Church in Fayette.  Together they enjoyed over 45 years of marriage.  Doris preceded him in death on July 1, 2014. 

Frank worked as a foreman for the MO Gas Energy company for 30 years and retired in 2004.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, gardening, and spending time on the farm with his brother Lee.  Frank was an active member in the SASS cowboy action shooting society, where he’d often participate in shooting competitions.  Frank had a vast gun collection and he also enjoyed crafting handmade knives. 

Survivors include his daughter, Trisha (Greg) Dougherty-Maass of Riverside, MO; son, Dean (Kitty) Dougherty of Cowgill, MO; step-daughter, Tammy (Tony) Hayes of West Burlington, IA; two step-sons, Terry (Patty) Estill of Fayette and Mike (Cyndi) Estill of Whitney, TX; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Zed (Evelyn) Dougherty of Boonville, MO; Sister, Gail (Kenny) Stubbs of West Plains, MO.  In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Dougherty, and a sister, Devina Dodson.

Services honoring the life of Mr. Dougherty will be held privately at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in rural Higbee, MO, with full military honors.
