Free concert by Heartland Heritage Community Band Saturday, Sept. 18 on courthouse lawn

The Heartland Heritage Community Band of St. Louis, joined by area musicians, is bringing live music to Fayette audiences next Saturday.

A concert will be presented at 6 p.m. on September 18 at the Howard County Courthouse Square.

Gene Rauscher of St. Louis, and Bob McNeill of Foristell, founded the Heartland Heritage Community Band five years ago with a mission to be anyone’s community band and go out to perform beyond the St. Louis area.

To any local director who agrees to host the band, they offer the opportunity to direct all or part of a concert.

Ed Lammers of Fayette is hosting this performance, helping with the arrangements, and will conduct a major portion of the concert. The event is free, and concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of entertaining band music on the square in Fayette.

Community members will recognize familiar tunes that may be presented by the musicians. Possible selections include the following:

The Star Spangled Banner, Americans We March by Henry Fillmore, Whip and Spur Galop by Thomas Allen, When the Stars Begin to Fall by Fred Allen, America Exultant by Al Hayes, Night in June by Karl King, Steadfast and True March by Carl Teike, Wizard of Oz arranged by James Barnes, Iowa Band Law March by Karl King, America the Beautiful arranged by Carmen Dragon, Dixieland Jamboree arranged by John Warrington, Highlights from Mary Poppins arranged by Alfred Reed, Glory of the Yankee Navy by Sousa, and Stars and Stripes by Sousa.
