Fuemmeler to transfer to Glasgow

Posted

In a surprise move, it was announced by Higbee head basketball coach Tanner Burton that Tiger standout Jordan Fuemmeler would transfer to the Glasgow School District for the upcoming school year.

Burton’s announcement, sent out on Sunday, stated, “Junior Jordan Fuemmeler has notified myself and his former teammates that he is transferring to Glasgow.”

“Two summers ago, I fielded a call asking if he (Jordan) could play summer basketball with us at Higbee,” said Burton. “In the time since, he has become one of the most prolific Class 1 basketball players, and we became one of the top teams in the state of Missouri. We have been fortunate to make countless memories together. Jordan is the biggest Class 1 basketball transfer in the state during my tenure.

Fuemmeler’s parents are both employed by the Higbee school district but live in the Glasgow district, which allowed Jordan to play at Higbee.

Questioned about Fuemmeler’s eligibility at Glasgow, Burton responded, “I don’t know his eligibility. The Missouri State High School Activities Association will make the determination based on the facts presented and following the rules in its handbook.”

“We hope he can just put in the transfer paperwork, and they (MSHSAA) will put it through,” said Glasgow coach Mick Cropp. “If that is the way it happens, we should know by mid-July.”

During the two seasons Fuemmeler spent at Higbee, the Tigers won one regular-season CCAA championship along with a district championship and advanced to the Final Four, finishing fourth in Class 1 during the 2020-21 campaign. During his sophomore season, the Tigers finished first in the CLAA regular season before winning the conference tourney. Higbee finished the season with a loss in the district championship game.

Fuemmeler finished his career at Higbee with 1,130 points, 336 rebounds, 150 steals, 187 assists, 14 blocks, 127 3-pointers made, eight double-doubles, and two triple-doubles.

Fuemmeler takes with him to Glasgow multiple awards, including being named on the Coaches All-State team, the Prep Hoops Missouri All-State team (x2), the Prep Hoops Missouri Co-Freshman of the year, and the Prep Hoops Player-of-the-Year watch list.

In addition, Fuemmeler was named the KMZU Player of the Year and named to the KRES All-Star team twice.  He was named Media All-District two times as well as Coaches All-District twice. Fuemmeler was also named CLAA and CCAA Most Valuable Player.
