Fayette resident, Gary Poland, 65, passed away at his home on August 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary Wayne Poland was born January 11, 1956, in Columbia, Missouri, a son to the late Roy Lee and Mary Katherine (Cleek) Poland. On March 11, 1993, Gary married Junaita Thurman in Columbia, Missouri. They enjoyed more than 27 years of marriage until her passing on September 21, 2020.

Gary was a jack of all trades. He held numerous jobs in various capacities. He primarily worked as a truck driver for Emery Sapp & Sons for a number of years. Gary farmed, hauled grain and livestock, and worked as a mechanic. He also worked in the lawn care business, providing maintenance and landscaping for many homes in the Fayette area. Gary loved to volunteer his time and help people in need, especially veterans. He often gave veterans rides and trips to the store when they were unable. Gary loved to fish and hit up a good garage sale when he was able. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his son, Roylee Poland of Fayette; stepson, George Ray (Lisa) Thomas of Fayette; stepdaughter, Rexanna Thomas of Fayette; six grandchildren, Debra, Butch, Dakota, Andrew (Jaylee), Michael, and Kadin; one great-grandson, Ryder; brother, Lee Poland of Sturgeon, Missouri; sister, Judy Poland of Fayette; and his faithful companion, Lady. In addition to his wife and parents, Gary was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Teal and Linda Sue Mendenhall, and a brother, George Poland.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Fayette.
