Glasgow boys finish second, girls take third in Class 1 sectional

The Glasgow boys hopped on the back of their relay teams to take second place in the Class 2 sectional meet on Saturday. Following the lead of the boys’ 4x400-meter relay team of senior Christian DeWolfe, Sophomore Edris Hamilton, junior Ethn Martin, and sophomore Colton Sellmeyer that finished second with a time of 3:44.11, the Glasgow boys finished with 70 points behind first-place finisher Principia with 127.

Glasgow followed that up with a fourth-place finish by the 4x800-meter relay team led off by freshman Jackson Strodtman followed by sophomore Colton Sellmeyer and freshman Zachery Sayler and junior Edris Hamilton. The YellowJackets followed that with another fourth-place finish by the 4x100-meter team. That team was led off by freshman Finn Johnson followed by sophomore Ryan Graves, junior Ethan Martin, and sophomore Colton Sellmeyer.

Edris Hamilton scored big in the 400-meter dash, finishing first with a time of 51.95. 

In the field events, senior Robert Gouge and freshman Finn Johnson finished second and third in the pole vault with scores of 11-01.50 and 9-07.75, respectively.

The LadyJackets managed to advance seven athletes to the finals. 

Led by senior Malia Carmack, the LadyJackets finished with 67 points to secure a third-place finish.

Carmack grabbed two second-place finishes, first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.71, then in the long jump with a leap of 15-07.50. Carmack wrapped her day up by finishing fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 31-09.50.

Freshman Addison Barringhaus wrapped up a first-place finish in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:35.06.

Freshman Kaitlyn Monnig finished second in the pole vault vaulting 7-10.50.

Junior Olivia Fuemmeler took third in the triple jump with a jump of 9.70 meters. Fuemmeler also jumped 14-11.25 to finish fourth in the long jump. The 4x800-meter relay was won by the LadyJackets with a time of 11:27.14. 

The YellowJackets and LadyJackets will take part in the state meet in Jefferson City on Friday and Saturday.
