With a trip to the Class 2, District 7 championship game on the line, the No. 4 seeded Glasgow Lady Jackets upset the No. 1 seeded Harrisburg Lady Bulldogs  57-51 Tuesday night in the semifinal round. Glasgow grabbed the berth in the final to play the Salisbury Lady Panthers.

Glasgow jumped out to a 16-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and added to that lead in the second quarter with 15 points to build a 31-24 edge at intermission. The Lady Jackets extended their lead to 15 in the third period when they held the Lady Bulldogs to six points, while scoring 14 of their own to jump ahead 45-30. Harrisburg came back in the fourth, scoring 21 points to Glasgow’s 12, but the lead was more than Harrisburg could overcome and the game ended with Glasgow on top 57-51.

“This year was about testing out young team, day in and day out,” said Harrisburg head coach Ryan Richardson. “We could never let them get comfortable, and they responded all year, always accepting and taking on our challenges.”

Harrisburg played the entire year without seniors and only three juniors, which bodes well for the program for the next few years.

Harrisburg junior Carli Ellis paced the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points. Junior Brecca Thornhill and sophomore Emma Fischer each netted 11 points. Junior Charlea Winscott scored seven. Sophomore Abby Rosson added five and freshman Macie Ellis contributed two to finish out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs.

On the Glasgow side of of the scorebook, senior Malia Carmack led all scorers with 21 points to go along with 16 points scored by classmate Brenna Hubbard. Junior Macie Parks netted 10 points while senior Jillian Johanning added five. Junior Karlie Monnig scored four. Sophomore Layne Sanders added one to round out the scoring for the Lady Jackets.

Glasgow moved on to face Salisbury in the final Saturday, losing 60-30.

Harrisburg finished the season 14-13.
