Tied with four runs apiece in the bottom of the seventh, Glasgow Yellowjackets catcher Trivan Himmelberg singled on the second pitch of his at-bat to score Nathan Prentzler from third to win the game in walk-off fashion.
Glasgow entered the final half-inning down a run. The Jackets singled and walked to put their first two batters on base. An error allowed junior Bronson Foster to tie the game before Himmelberg delivered the winning RBI.
Glasgow laid down seven hits, all by different players. Jackson Strodtman had the team’s only extra-bases hit with a double.
Strodtman picked up the win on the mound after pitching the final inning. He allowed two runs (none earned) on one hit and a walk and struck out two batters. Foster struck out two in a five-inning start. He surrendered two runs (1 earned) on four hits with three walks. AJ Westhues struck out one and gave up two hits in one scoreless inning of relief.
Glasgow now improves to 2-1 on the season. The Jackets host county rival New Franklin today (Wednesday) before facing a doubleheader at Wellington-Napoleon on Saturday. They face the host team at 11 a.m. and play against Harrisburg at 1 p.m.
