Armstrong resident, Glenda Kay Madaus, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Glenda Kay Madaus was born January 17, 1942 in Detroit, Mchi., a daughter of the late Glenwood and Cora (Harmon) Adams. Kay graduated from Armstrong High School in 1960, and also earned some college credit. On April 3, 1965, Kay married the love of her life, John W. Madaus at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonville, Mo. Together they’ve enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage. Kay worked as the school secretary for the Moberly Correctional Center for 22 years. For 15 years she also worked as an abstractor for G.G. Smith. Kay enjoyed crafting, especially making doll houses and furniture. She was also great at decorating cakes. Kay truly loved spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, John Madaus of Arsmtrong, Mo.; two daughters, Sheila Gentry of Longview, Texas and Lori (Curt Hale) Cummings of Columbia Mo.; four grandchildren, Adam (Kelli) Young, Erin Young, Daniel (Megan) Young, and Megan (Andrew Weaver) Guese; 7 great-grandchildren, Lane, Logan, Aubri, Abram, Cullen, Sylvia, and Mace; and two siblings, Karen Elliott of Glasgow, Mo., and Benny (Cheryl) Adams of Chesapeake, Ohio. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her son, Jack Madaus and three brothers, Edward, Tommy, and Jerry Adams.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Madaus will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Pastor Andrew Etzler officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Armstrong, Mo.
