Grace Janet (Estes) Gaddis

Grace Janet Gaddis, 88 of New Franklin, passed away January 6, 2023 at Ashley Manor in Boonville.

She was born December 22, 1934 in Phoenix, Arizona, a daughter of J.C. Estes and Grace Cline Estes. She married Gilbert L. Gaddis on June 4, 1955.  

Mrs. Gaddis had formerly been employed with the Boonville Daily News. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Her family remembers that she usually cooked from memory seldom using a recipe; family favorites included chocolate gravy, breakfasts she made for the grandkids and their favorite cookies. Her family appreciates the work she did as a mother to provide and care for them. Mrs. Gaddis was also a member of the the former New Franklin Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Carter; a sister, Corene Schuble; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; by her parents, J.C. and Grace Estes; two sons, Brent and Bill Gaddis; a sister-in-law, Julie Gaddis; three brothers and one sister.

Services honoring Mrs. Gaddis’ life was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Pastor Nick Larson officiating.  Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
