The annual Halloween Costume Contest presented by the GFWC Golden Study Club made a big return Sunday afternoon. The event, which has been a tradition in Fayette since 1954, was canceled a year ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
More than 100 costumed youngsters up to 12 years of age attended the costume contest. The top three winners in the age groups of 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 were given prizes. All participants took home trick-or-treat bags full of goodies. Following the contest, the trick-or-treaters paraded around the courthouse square.
