Fayette Senior Theo Owings made the most of a sunny, yet windy Thursday in Boonville as he shot a 41 at Hail Ridge Golf Course. That score was good enough to bring home top honors as the medalist in the dual meet between the Harrisburg Bulldogs and the Fayette Falcons.
Fayette won the varsity dual by a score of 200-205.
The Falcons had five golfers in the dual while the Bulldogs only fielded four, so the highest score for the Falcons was thrown out to arrive at the Falcon score.
In addition to the varsity matchup, Fayette fielded a junior varsity team consisting of four golfers. That team finished the day at 254.
With Owings as the medalist on the par-35 course, Fayette senior Dalton Collins and Harrisburg sophomore finished tied at 47.Harrisburg freshman Aiden Van Roekel shot a 49 for third, followed by Fayette senior Avery Powell with a 50. Harrisburg freshmen Aiden Grindstaff and Myals Thornhill followed up with a 55 and 54, respectively. Fayette senior Tyler Bartholomew and freshman Kaleb Friebe rounded out the varsity scoring tied at 62.
On the JV side Fayette freshman Bryce Callahan shot a 62, while senior teammate Miles Himmelmann shot 63. Junior Zane Franz and freshman Gavin Callahan hit 64 and 65, respectively.
“The team is showing some steady improvement in both varsity and junior varsity,” said Fayette head coach Garth Menees. Theo Owings was the varsity medalist for the second match this season, and Dalton Collins was the runner-up for the second time. Avery Powell was five strokes under his season average of 55.”
