A head-on crash sent a 29-year-old Fayette woman to the hospital in serious condition along with her two infants and a teenager from Harrisburg on Tuesday evening, August 23.
According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Krystal G. Smith and two infant passengers were westbound in a 2004 Buick Century on Highway 124 near State Route NN around 8:40 p.m. when a 2008 Chrysler 300, driven by Chandler M. Cooke, 19, of Harrisburg, hit her head on. Cook, heading east, was attempting to pass another vehicle on a hill crest when the collision occurred, according to the patrol.
Smith was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia, along with a one-year-old and a two-year-old in moderate condition. Cooke was also taken to the hospital in moderate condition. All four were wearing safety devices, according to the patrol.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
