After taking an 11-0 loss to Eugene to even their season record to 4-4, the Higbee Tigers could not have been blamed if they tucked their tails and ran. Instead, they came roaring out of the chute and reeled off three straight wins.
On Wednesday, Glasgow came to town and was quickly sent home with a 15-0 loss to the Tigers. Sophomore starting pitcher Derek Rockett allowed no hits with six strikeouts in three innings pitched. He was also perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 and driving in three. Classmate Jaxon Hudson was also 3-for-3 with five RBI’s.
On Saturday, it was more of the same from Rockett. He went seven innings against Sturgeon, again allowing no-hits while striking out 18 of 22 batters faced. He has now pitched 10 straight innings without giving up a hit.
Rockett was 2-for-3 in the game as were sophomore Chevy Grimsley and freshman Landon Tuggle.
On Saturday, Higbee traveled to Atlanta and held a 14-5 lead after the top half of the third. Atlanta roared back falling just short of taking the lead before falling 14-13.
