It was a milestone day Wednesday for one of Howard County's best-known service providers. Exactly 36 years to the date after opening for business in 1968, the Howard County Home Health and Hospice cut the ribbon to commemorate its move to new facilities at 101 Furr St. in Fayette (just off of Highway 5).

The freestanding, private not-for-profit organization previously occupied quarters in the Keller Building. The facility which the organization now occupies formerly housed the Department of Family Services. An open house followed the ribbon-cutting.

With a staff of 33, the multifaceted agency provides a broad spectrum of social and health services to the over-55 population of this area.

Here, administrator Serese Wiehardt, RN, CHE, prepares to cut the ribbon held by Linda Noland, left, and Kim Wayland. To her left is visitor Judy Lay and Chamber of Commerce President Wayne Walker. Others in the photo are staff members, volunteers and board members.
