The Howard County Cattlemen in March voted to do its part by providing beef to three local food pantries. Beef prices have skyrocketed since the onset of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Efforts by the Howard County Cattlemen, along with monetary donations from area businesses such as BTC Bank, Exchange Bank, and Don Baragary, Cooper County Presiding Commissioner and candidate for 48th Missouri House District, helped provide the beef for needy families. In all, 600 pounds of ground beef was purchased C&R Market in Boonville. The beef was delivered in two stages to each food pantry, 100 pounds at a time.
“The Cattleman hope this will urge other groups to help out assisting with these types of services, such as the pantries, and help bring the county together during this time of need,” said Mat Freese, Cattlemen member, and candidate for Howard County Western District Commissioner.
