The Delta variant of COVID-19 is on the rise worldwide, and Missouri has seen rates of infection and hospitalization rise significantly in recent weeks, according to data published on the health.mo.gov website.
This information includes comparisons of statewide data and can be filtered by county. To date, Missouri has seen more than 602,000 cases of the virus, with 12,886 confirmed over the past seven days at the time of this printing. The website also shows that more than 5.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the state to date. Of those, 93,580 have been administered in the past week. Only 38.1% of the population in Howard County are fully vaccinated. There have been 852 total confirmed cases of COVID, and 10 confirmed in the past seven days in the county, according to the health.mo.gov website.
Howard County Public Health Department director Marsha Broadus said that the Health Department does not currently have data concerning rates of new COVID-19 infections among vaccinated individuals, but said the best place for residents to keep up with ongoing virus data is on the Howard County Health Department’s Facebook page. The Health Department posts frequent updates; their most recent post (at printing) shows 36 active COVID cases in the county, 1,276 total recovered cases, four currently hospitalized and 10 total deaths, as of August 13.
