The Howard County Fair is a go for 2021. The annual event is set to run as normal from June 21 through 27 at the Howard County Fairgrounds.
The only major change this year will be made to the fair book. Instead of a large printed program, the book will be digital, accessible through the fair’s website, www.hocomofair.com. The online fair book not only lists when the various events occur but allows users to interact. For instance, not only does it list the date and time of the talent show, it allows users to fill out and submit entry forms directly to the organizers.
The online fair book will save approximately $2,000 in printing costs. For those who prefer a low-tech approach, smaller tri-fold schedules will be available.
All of the major attractions will be back this year, including the carnival which will run evenings from Wednesday, June 23 through Saturday, June 26. Special early pricing for armbands will be announced soon. Livestock judging and shows along with those for ham and bacon are scheduled throughout the week.
The prince and princess, and queen contests will be on Wednesday, June 23, along with the open 4D barrel race. The rodeo kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 25, and runs for two nights.
A full slate of events is scheduled for Saturday, June 26. First up is the baby contest at 9:30 a.m. followed by the goat show at 10 a.m. The super youth contest begins at 5 p.m. The talent show is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Saturday will also feature the second day of the rodeo along with the ever-popular Bradley Automotive Truck and Tractor Pull and Garden Tractor Pull. Both events begin at 7 p.m.
The fair is capped off by the gospel music show at Faith Family Church at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 27.
Complete listings and further information for all events are listed on the fair’s website, www.hocomofair.com.
