A new addition to this year’s Howard County Fair will an ATV Rodeo. The competition will kick off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23.

The new event will feature barrels, bow tie, and pole competitions. ATV classes include 90 cc and under; up to 300 cc for riders aged 14 and under, 15-19, 20-39, and over 40; ATV Sport under 400 cc+, 401-499 cc, and 500 cc+. Utility under 500 cc; and 500 cc+. Other classes include side-by-sides with riders, dirt bikes, ATV open, open under 40 and open 41 and older.

First-place winners for all non-open classes will receive back their entry fees and earn ribbons. First-place open finishers will get back half of their entry fees plus ribbons.

Upon crossing the start/stop line with the direction of the track official, the contestant will move through the barrels (poles) in a uniform and prescribed pattern. If the contestant breaks the pattern, they will be disqualified. A 10-second penalty will apply for every barrel (pole) that is tipped over. Time will end when the rider has successfully completed the pattern and crossed the start/stop line.

Interested entrants may find complete rules and patterns online at hocomofair.com.
