James Armand Reid II, 77, passed away on December 7, 2021, at Missouri University Hospital.

Jim was born December 23, 1943, in Kansas City, Kansas to the late James Armand Reid and Esther R. (Cassity) Reid.

Jim graduated from Marshall High School in 1961 and went on to pursue further education at Missouri Valley College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Later he studied and received a master’s degree in finance and wealth management.

Jim married Terry Day at the Macon United Methodist Church on October 3, 1970. They were married for 51 years.

Jim was the Financial Officer for the College of Agriculture Food and Natural Resources with the University of Missouri. After that, he went on to be an Associate Dean at the University of Denver Law School. After Denver, Jim traveled to Factoryville, Pennsylvania to become the Chief Financial Officer for Keystone College.

As a youth, Jim earned Boy Scouts’ highest rank, Eagle Scout. In retirement, he rekindled his love of scouting. He served in a multitude of positions for the Great Rivers Council mentoring both other adult leaders and youth. His passion was nurturing the scouting movement in rural areas of central and northeast Missouri. For his dedication, he was awarded the Silver Beaver award, the Boy Scouts Council’s highest honor.

Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed his time with horses and fishing. Along with his wife, Terry, Jim enjoyed traveling, antiquing, history, and studying Missouri culture. Jim was an avid reader and would devour books on history and mysteries. He particularly loved collecting old silver spoons and had a unique collection that combined his love for history and antiques.

Jim is survived by his wife Terry Reid of Columbia, Missouri; siblings Michael (Sally) Reid of Jefferson City, Missouri; Susan (Anne Roberts) Reid of Indiana; and his nieces Sarah (Sean) Murray, Anne (Alex) Curchin, and Emily (Logan) Stanley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Great Rivers Council 1203 Fay Street Columbia, Missouri 65201. A Memorial Service is planned for late in January after the Holidays.
