New Franklin resident, Jerry Bishop, 74, passed away at his home January 21, 2022.

Jerry Lee Bishop was born January 4, 1948 in Fayette, Missouri, a son to the late Paul and Lillian Maxine (Jackson) Bishop.  On February 4, 1967, Jerry married Laura Jane Wyatt in Fayette, Missouri. They enjoyed over 47 years of marriage together up until Laura’s passing on June 18, 2014. Jerry started his own trucking business in 1982, hauling mobile homes across the United States. Jerry continued owning and operating his trucking business for 30 years, retiring in 2012. Jerry was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed working projects on his home and for his family.  He loved fishing, camping trips and traveling.  Jerry was a proud president of the Sulphur Springs Cemetery Association for 20 years.

Survivors include his four children, Leeandra Gwen Gehringer, of Rocheport, Missouri, Christina Lynn (Patrick) Cox, of Columbia, Missouri, Paul Wade (Kimber) Bishop, of New Franklin, Missouri, and Sarah Anjanette Pace, of Rocheport, Missouri; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Raymond) Brown, of New Franklin, Missouri and Rickie (Arnie) Green, of Boonville, Missouri. Jerry is also survived by his significant other and loving caretaker, Nancy Donner, of New Franklin.  In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Marie Bishop, a grandson, Alexander Paul Terrell, and two siblings, Parry Monteer and Robbie Joe Bishop.

Funeral Service honoring the life of Mr. Bishop will be 12 PM, Noon, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Rev. Harold Young officiating.  Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service at the funeral home starting at 10 AM.  Burial will follow the service at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in New Franklin, Missouri.
