Armstrong resident, Jerry Johnmeyer, 70, passed away suddenly in Fayette, Missouri on February 6, 2021.

Jerry Thomas Johnmeyer was born May 9, 1950 in Fayette, Missouri, a son to the late Jacob and Mildred (Robb) Johnmeyer. Jerry graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1968. Jerry held numerous jobs throughout his life. He started his career working for Missouri Department of Transportation. In the mid 70’s, Jerry started working for the Universal Coalmine. He worked for the Mail Contractors of America and also farmed and raised livestock. Jerry worked as a truck driver for Johnmeyer Trucking, LTD the majority of his career. He married Kathy (Murray) Anderson at their homeplace in Armstrong on June 14, 2003. Jerry loved horses and trail riding. He was a former member of the Boonslick Saddle Club and a dedicated member of the NRA. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He’ll be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of the home; two sons, Jason Johnmeyer of Fayette, Missouri, and Jerimiah (Michele) Johnmeyer of Higbee, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; step-daughter Stacy (J.W.) Tancayo of Garden City, Kansas; step-daughter-in-law, Ashley Anderson of Jonesboro, Arkansas; five siblings, Sharon Himmelberg of Fayette, Susan (Pete) McBain of Fayette, Colleen (Larry) Wies of Fayette, Colette (Paul) Thies of Glasgow and Jacob Johnmeyer of Fayette. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a step-son, Brock Anderson.

A public visitation will be held 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Faith Family Church in Fayette, with Rev. Harold Young officiating. A private memorial service for the family will be held immediately following the visitation at noon. Please note, face masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
