The New Franklin Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead Friday and never looked back in a 54-14 lopsided victory over Madison.
With only one 3-point basket to its credit in the first quarter, Madison surely did not know what had hit it as New Franklin scored 15 to start the game.
In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs continued to pour it on, outscoring the Lady Panthers 23-6 to take a 38-9 lead into the locker room.
Utilizing all of her bench, New Franklin head coach Morgan Vetter’s team made the most of it’s opportunities and outscored Madison 10-5 in the third and 6-0 in the fourth to win handily, 54-14.
“This was a great home win with a running clock,” said Vetter. “This group is tough and works hard to be that way. I see improvements on both ends and an unmatched energy.”
For the second game in a row, junior Carly Dorson took scoring honors with 15 points while junior Emma Rice put in nine. Junior Kelsi Fair added eight while freshmen Kebrea Fair and Tatum Hoover put in five apiece.
Junior Addy Salmon and senior Kristen Flick each added four to go along with senior Abby Maupin’s three. Freshman Brooklynn Brown capped off the New Franklin scoring by adding a free throw in the third.
The Lady Bulldogs took on Slater on Tuesday after The Advertiser went to print and will finish the 2021 portion of the schedule on Thursday in Tuscumbia at 4:30 p.m.
