The Lady Jackets let a 14-point lead dwindle to just three on Tuesday night in New Franklin, but Glasgow finished with a strong fourth quarter for a 48-37 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

“We really talked a lot about having to be resilient,” Glasgow coach Molly Monnig said.

“New Franklin has some good players, they’re well coached. They’re going to make some runs and they’re going to make some plays. They played very strong and aggressive. We talked about having to be resilient and keep battling when those things happen.”

Breanna Hubbard scored eight points during an 11-0 run in the first half that put the Lady Jackets ahead 21-10.

Abby Maupin cut the lead to 21-13 with a bucket, but Malia Carmack answered with her third 3-pointer of the first half to put Glasgow back up by 11.

Hadley Sanders knocked down a 3-pointer early in the third quarter to extend the Lady Jacket lead to 29-15.

Carly Dorson scored five points, while Maupin and Addy Salmon each had four during a 13-2 run for New Franklin that closed the gap to three points.

Dorson finished the game with nine points. Maupin and Salmon led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 each.

Campbell Cooper’s basket made it 35-32, but Sanders hit a big 3-pointer for Glasgow that doubled the lead. Hubbard scored the next two field goals and the lead was back to ten.

Hubbard said that the Lady Jackets executed their offense with more precision than they had in previous games.

“We actually ran our play,” she explained

Hubbard finished with a game-high 20 points.

“She’s just really working inside,” Monnig said.

“She’s doing a good job of getting in position and the girls are doing a good job of getting her the basketball. When you have Krista (Monnig), Hadley, and Malia shooting the ball from the perimeter, that makes those touches easier for her.”

Monnig had a 3-pointer in the first quarter. Carmack scored all 11 of her points in the first half, and Sanders had all 12 of hers in the second half.
