Fayette resident, Lala Smiley passed away March 30, 2020 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. She was 81 years of age.
Lala Marie Smiley was born in Macon, Mo. to Paul Franklin and Mae Lucille Smith. She graduated from Moberly High School in 1956. She married Marion Smiley June 13, 1958. Lala had worked at Bersted Manufacturing in Moberly where she met Marion. After they were married, she worked on the farm with her husband. They were cattle farmers, raised sheep, had horses and other animals that they cared for. She also worked at H & R Block for a number of years. Lala was a member of the saddle club and loved riding horses. She loved to fish, do garden work, and being with family. Lala was also an excellent artist.
She is survived by her husband, Marion of the home; son, Dale Smiley of Farmington, Mo.; grandson, Billy Smiley of Fayette; two great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Casebolt of Huntsville, Mo.; two brothers, Herbert (Marie) Smith of Ashland City, Tenn. and Robert (Vicki) Smith of Moberly, Mo.. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon. Arrangements are entrusted to Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 174 Hwy. 5 & 240 N., Fayette, MO 65248.
