Larry Dale Weathers, 77, of Boonville, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at The Bluffs in Columbia, Missouri.
He was born on September 5, 1947, in Fayette, Missouri, the son of A.R. Weathers and Kathleen O’Neal. But he was raised by Granny Patton.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
Larry graduated from Fayette High School and soon after went to serve his country in the United States Air Force.
He married Rhonda Gebhardt in 1970, and they had 2 children from that marriage, Carla and Cory.
He was remarried to Linda Foster on March 25, 1998, in Las Vegas, NV. And were married 27 years at the time of her passing.
Larry started working as a meat cutter for McCutcheons in Fayette in high school and continued as a meat cutter when he returned from the service. He then was employed as a guard at Moberly Correctional Center and then went on to be a guard at Boonville Correctional Center, retiring after 20 years of service there.
Larry was a loving, calm, gentle soul who never raised his voice, and Larry loved GOLF!!!! He also enjoyed camping with Linda, spending every summer at the Lake of the Ozarks, and country dancing as a couple. He was the Best Dad! But the one thing he loved more than golf was his family.
He is survived by his children: Carla Simmons (Mike) of Glasgow, Cory Weathers (Chris) of Moberly; stepdaughter Nikki Newport (Randy) of Hartsburg; sisters: Janice Chape, Donna O’Neil, Joyce Reynolds, all of Columbia; brother Mike O’Neil of Fayette; grandchildren: Ashley Sullivan (Tim), Christopher Simmons (Amanda). Mallory Webster (Matt), Ryan Lucas (Cassie), Michaela Clary, Emily Newport, Ashley Newport; great grandchildren: Henry Simmons, Lilly Sullivan, Ashlynn, Elise, Christina, Kamryn, Adalyn, Colton, Hannah, Clary, Ryland, Ruby, Mazie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Linda Weathers.
