Happy Holidays from the Howard County Public Library! It is hard to believe that 2021 is almost over and that we are at the end of another year, but here we are!
In 2021, we were happy to hold our summer reading program once again, and our middle school book club in person, and also to hold our regular Friday morning Story Hour. We really missed those events in 2020, along with missing many of our patrons who were staying home, but we are glad to be back on track!
This year is not completely over, as we are having our Story Hour along with a holiday craft activity on December 10th and 17th. During the last week before Christmas, we will have a take-and-make holiday craft for all our young readers who visit us.
We will be closed Friday, December 24th and Saturday, December 25th, along with New Year’s Day. Then we will be looking forward to 2022, when we hope to continue our current programs and also to add even more events for our patrons to enjoy.
We started our informal book club, “Readers,” in November and have had two very lively and enjoyable meetings. Everyone came away with at least one new book title. We are hoping to increase our attendance in 2022, so if you like to discuss books in a relaxed, casual, adults-only atmosphere, join us on the first Thursday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 6th.
We will continue with our Friday Story Hour at 11 a.m. on Fridays, but a new story hour time and day will begin in January. We will hold a toddlers’ only story time at 10 a.m. each Thursday. This will give the little ones a chance to have the children’s wing all to themselves.
As we look ahead to summer, we will have both our children’s summer reading program and our middle school book club. We are hoping to add even more exciting events, so stop by often to check out a book, see what is new and exciting, or just to say hello.
We wish to thank all of our patrons for their support in 2021 and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2022!
