Local author reads to Kindergarten students

The co-author of a new children’s book took time to read to Kindergarten students at Daly Elementary School last week. On Wednesday, Cara (Syferd) Owings read aloud her book “Be You” to budding new readers in the school library.

Owings, along with lifelong friend and classmate Chastity (Fisher) Jeff, also a native of Fayette who currently lives in Texas, recently published “Be You,” the first of what they intend to be a series of books for young readers. The two authors donated copies to the Daly Elementary and Howard County Public libraries.

“It was really special to read to a class in the school I attended,” Owings said. “It was fun to hear their discussion about friendship and what ‘Be You’ means to them.”
