Local Easter services

Spring is officially here and with it the season of Lent. As we near Easter, community members may be wondering where they can attend Resurrection Weekend worship services.

The following is a list of churches that have announced services. The Advertiser reached out to churches in the area but was not able to get in touch with all by press time. 

Bible Baptist Church - New Franklin: Easter Sunday sunrise prayer and breakfast, 7:30 a.m., Sunday school, 9:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m. Evening service 6 p.m. Celebrations will include a candy scramble for children. 

First Baptist Church of New Franklin: The church will hold its Easter celebration at the normal time with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. 

Immanuel United Church of Christ New Franklin: In addition to regular services, including Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, there will be a community memorial service at 7 p.m. on Friday for Good Friday, and all are welcome to attend.

Moniteau Chapel: Easter Sunday Communion Service, 9 a.m. All are invited.

St. Joseph Catholic Church: Holy Thursday: The Altars of Repose will be open until 11 p.m. for private prayer. Good Friday service, 7:30 p.m. Holy Saturday confessions 4 to 5:30 p.m. Easter Sunday mass is at 8 a.m. 

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glasgow: Holy Thursday mass at 7 p.m., and the Altars of Repose will be open until 11 p.m. for private prayer. Good Friday: Stations of the Cross at 3 p.m., confessions 3:30 to 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. Good Friday service. Holy Saturday: Easter Vigil at 8:30 p.m. Easter Sunday: 10 a.m. mass. 

St. Mary’s Episcopal: Good Friday: walk the Way of the Cross, 11 a.m., gather at St. Mary’s, 104 W. Davis St., next to Home Oil. Easter Sunday: service at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ): Easter Service will be at the normal time, 10:15 a.m. There will be a special choir anthem and beautiful uplifting music. All are welcome, communion open to everyone.

St. Paul UMC: Saturday: Easter egg hunt, 10 a.m. Sunday: sunrise service, 8 a.m. with Second Baptist Church. The Rev. Charlie Wright will speak. Regular service 11 a.m., outside if weather permits.

Faith Family Church: Easter Sunday sunrise service, 7:30 a.m. at the Summit Building, followed by coffee and doughnuts. Worship service at 10 a.m., which will be streamed on Facebook and the Faith Family website. Children’s Sunday school pre-K to 5th grade and nursery for infants and toddlers during the 10 a.m. service.

Smith Chapel Church - Rocheport: Easter Sunday: 9:30 a.m. open for fellowship time and all are welcome. Service begins at 10 a.m. with special music. The service will be followed by an Easter Egg hunt for kids. “The church is a destination, not a drive by” as Pastor Kevin Leiby put it; it is on gravel and if you have difficulty finding your way, you can call (573) 310-1563. All are welcome.
