Scores of area patriots braved cold, wet conditions to participate in National Wreaths Across America Day at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near New Franklin on Saturday. The cemetery was one of more than 4,225 to take part in the annual wreath-laying ceremonies meant to honor fallen members of the United States Armed Forces. The event was coordinated by the Howard County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A total of 268 wreaths were laid on veterans’ headstones.
