Loretta “Rita” Faye Harmon, 77, of Salisbury, Missouri, died Friday, June 17, 2022. Rita was born June 5, 1945, in Prairie Hill, MO, the daughter of William Thomas and Dorothy Virginia (Thomas) Bowen. She married Kent Harmon on May 13, 1967, in Troy, Missouri.

Rita was a graduate of Salisbury High School, after which she attended Central Christian College of the Bible. She was a homemaker, worked various secretarial positions through the years in Chariton County, was a lifetime, faithful member of the Prairie Hill Christian Church, and later in life worked to obtain her associates degree from Moberly Area Community College in order to become a teacher’s aide. This brought her great joy, assisting and building relationships in Special Education classrooms at Salisbury Elementary School. She enjoyed baking, planting flowers, traveling, listening to Blake Shelton, and attending the First Baptist’s Women’s Bible study group. Her greatest delight was her family.

Rita is survived by her husband Kent, of the home; a son Brian (Audrey) Harmon of Salisbury, Missouri; daughter Kena (Ronnie) Sotelo of Salisbury, Missouri; brother Tom (Mary) Bowen of Salisbury, Missouri; sister-in-law Elaine Bowen of Moberly, Missouri; four grandchildren (Brianna Harmon, Emmett Harmon, Tucker Sotelo, and Kai Sotelo); and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother William Robert Bowen.

A visitation will take place on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Summerville Funeral Home, with burial in Fitzgerald Cemetery near Bynumville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prairie Hill Christian Church or the Fitzgerald Cemetery Association.
