The Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre officially opens the curtain on its 60th season tonight with Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The theatre’s entire season was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this show was originally slated to begin in June of last year.
The cast arrived last month and finished week two of rehearsals on Sunday.
“It’s just amazing to me how normal life seems within the walls of the theatre,” said Producing Artistic Director Quin Gresham, adding that cast members and artistic staff—many of them alumni from previous seasons—are overjoyed to be working again. The theatre industry was devastated last year, worldwide. “There are extra dashes of esprit de corps and just joy in the work.”
Gresham said they’re encouraging, but not requiring, visitors to wear masks to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission., All theatre employees are screened daily. And they’re taking extra steps to disinfect the space. For performance schedule and prices, call the box office at 660-837-3311 or visit LyceumTheatre.org.
