Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation (MAEDC) announces the departure of its president, Michael Bugalski, effective September 2, 2022. Bugalski will remain in the community as he pursues a career in banking. Bugalski was named MAEDC president on March 16, 2019, after joining the organization in 2016.
“The MAEDC board has seen many successes under Michael’s leadership. We are grateful for his service to our board and our county partners,” stated MAEDC Board Chairman J.B. Waggoner.
“Michael has not only provided strong leadership for our organization, but he has also been a great community advocate and a valued friend to the business leaders throughout Howard and Randolph counties. We are saddened for this loss yet excited for his family as Michael embarks on a new career endeavor for himself, his wife Cassie, and their son. We wish them all the best.”
Randy Asbury, MAEDC director of business development, will act as interim president until a search is completed for Bugalski’s replacement. Asbury has been with MAEDC since 2019 and is knowledgeable of the organization’s current operations and projects; therefore, MAEDC’s mission will continue without interruption.
Prior to joining MAEDC, Bugalski worked for the Missouri Department of Economic Development. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with an MPA from the Truman School of Public Affairs. As a native of southeastern Wisconsin, his undergraduate work in Political Science and Economics was completed at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Bugalski stated, “MAEDC’s near 35-year history is remarkable and I feel fortunate to have been part of it. Frequently I described my work as being a caretaker of an institution much larger than myself; and I strived to uphold that.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to participate in and lead this incredible organization. Thank you to all who have been part of the work MAEDC has done. I extend my most sincere appreciation for the support and friendship that has been shown to me and my family.”
MAEDC works to promote investment within Howard and Randolph counties through expansion of existing businesses, new business attraction, community development, and entrepreneurial development.
