Johnston, Iowa, resident Mahlon Earl, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 13, 2025.
Mahlon Stanton Earl was born December 16, 1959, in Paragould, Arkansas. He was one of four boys born to Marvin and Doris (Probert) Earl. Mahlon attended and graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1978. He furthered his education, earning an associate’s degree from Lincoln University and a bachelor’s degree in computer programming from Columbia College. Mahlon spent his entire career in the IT field, utilizing his skills as a computer programmer. He held jobs for Shelter Insurance, John Deere, and, most recently, Wells Fargo. Mahlon worked as a computer programmer in information technology for more than 30 years.
Mahlon stayed active and had many hobbies. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing in his band and playing pickleball. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, camping, riding his motorcycles and bicycle. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandsons.
Survivors include his two children, Wesley (Robyn) Earl of Ashland, Mo., and Lindsey (Charlie) Hudson of Dover, N.J.; his mother, Doris Earl of Fayette, Mo.; two grandsons, Jet Earl and Andrew Hudson; and three brothers, Martin (L. Jenene) Earl of Sturgis, Sd., Marlin Earl of Armstrong, Mo., and Max (Dedra) Earl of Jefferson City, Mo. Mahlon was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Earl.
A funeral service honoring the life of Mahlon Earl will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, Mo., with Rev. Jamie Page officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the funeral home starting at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette, Mo.
